What Is Direct Primary Care?
Direct primary care (DPC) is a membership you pay to your primary care practice, not to an insurance company. You pay one flat monthly fee and get unlimited visits and direct access to your provider. Because we care for far fewer patients than a typical practice, there is time for real conversations and room on the schedule when you are sick. Members come from across Winchester, Frederick County, Stephens City and Front Royal. If you have been searching for direct primary care near me, Smartypants Medicine has offered it right here in Winchester since 2019.

Yes, and most of our members keep it. Your membership takes care of everyday primary care. Insurance, or a lower-cost high-deductible plan, covers the big things.
Your Smartypants membership: office, virtual and house call visits, urgent care, chronic condition management, women's, men's and mental health care, direct access to your provider.
Your insurance: hospital stays, specialists, advanced imaging, surgery, emergency room care.
Under Virginia law (54.1-2997), a direct primary care agreement is not health insurance.
